Butterflies IV - inserting the lining

...bevor ich anfange, entschuldige ich mich schonmal für die schlechte Bildqualität, auf dem Display der Kamera sahen sie wesentlich besser aus, ich hoffe,man kann trotzdem etwas erkennen.

Before I start with my lining procedure: Please apologize the bad picture-quality today. The seemed to be fine on the display, since I did not use the flash, but they could be much better.

Wie war das noch ? Das Runde muss in das Eckige, oder so... Nun ich bin wirklich kein Fussballfan, aber der Spruch drängte sich mir auf...

Soccer fans might know: The round ( i.e. ball ) has to fit into the square hole ( i.e. goal ). This is what spontaneously came up to my mind while placing my jacket and lining for this picture.

Ich nähe Futter immer nach den Schnittteilen des Kleidungsstücks, ggf. abzüglich Besatzbreiten. Ich schneide ebenfalls 1,5 cm NZG an, nutze letztendlich aber nur 1 cm, damit das Futter leicht weiter ist und nach Fertigstellung nicht etwa den Oberstoff nach innen zieht. Bei Jacken oder Mänteln arbeite ich in das Rückenteil eine Bewegungsfalte ein.

I use the original pattern to cut the lining, where required I remove the facing-parts. I cut the lining with 1,5cm SAm but will only use 1cm so that the lining is slightly larger than the garment. This prevents that the lining might pull the fabric to the inside, which would cause wrinkles. I also add a pleat to the center back to gain more width.

Nachdem ich alle Futterteile miteinander verbunden habe ( was im Vergleich zum Oberstoff immer erstaunlich schnell geht ), nähe ich das Futter mit der Maschine rundherum an den Besatz. Halt - vorher bügle ich mir an den unteren Kanten noch die Nahtzugabe um, damit ich hinterher einen sauberen Bruch habe.

Dann folgt: Handarbeit! Ich nähe Futter immer mit der Hand ein, genauer gesagt, die Säume. Das ist für mich die beste Methode, nur so kann ich genau steuern, wie das Futter fällt. Ich habe auch schon die konfektionelle Methode ausprobiert, bin aber wieder zum Handnähen zurückgekehrt. Ich nähe die vorgebügelte Kante auf der Saumzugabe an. Danach lege ich die vorhandene Mehrlänge in einem Knick nach unten und nähe diese auf dem Beleg fest:

After sewing all lining parts together ( which is quite quick if you compare the time you need for the fabrich pieces ) I sew them to the facings - right sides together. Stop - first I iron the seam allowances at the bottoms to have a clear edge.

Then again: handsewing ! I always sew the hem area of my linings by hand. For me, this is the best way to control the fitting of the lining. I tried other methods as well but always came back to this one. I sew the ironed edge to the seam allowance. Afterwards I lay the full lenght of the lining downwards and fix it to the front facings.

Ebenso habe ich die unteren Ärmelkanten per Hand angenäht, die Mehrweite habe ich aber nicht eingehalten, sondern in zwei Falten verteilt:
