Holiday Break!

I will not do anything sewing- or blogging related for the next 8 days ( ok- I will take some knitting stuff with me, so at least crafting related ). I will be HERE:
Hopefully with enough snow to do skiing and lots of sunshine!
After my return I will start a new WIP which will be named "Sherlock Holmes meets Miss Moneypenny" , so stay tuned and have a nice sewing week!

In den nächsten 8 Tagen werde ich sicherlich nichts tun, was auch nur im Entferntesten mit Nähen oder Bloggen zu tun hat ( ok - mein aktuelles Strickprojekt reist mit, also doch etwas zum Thema...). Ich werde nämlich DORT sein. Hoffentlich mit genug Schnee zum Skifahren und viel Sonne.
Gut erholt starte ich nach meinem Urlaub nochmal ein WIP, genannt: "Sherlock Holmes meets Miss Moneypenny", Ihr könnt also gespannt sein.

Pattern review Burda 8028

I finished my black knit pullover-dress this weekend and I think this nice pattern is worth a review:

Pattern: Burda Nr. 8028
Description: pullover in 4 different options, I sewed view B
Severity: ***

Size: 40 (I changed into a 38 at the upper part )

How much fabric did you need ? Since I did not trust the pattern description and bought less fabric than recommended I had to buy a second structure after cutting out the body pieces. Thus I needed about 2,50 m....( notice: take the pattern recommendation for granted next time...)

Approximate sewing time: 6 hours, embellishment included
Does the finished project look like the drawing/pictures ? yes
Were the sewing instructions easy to follow: yes, definitely

What do you like/disklike about this pattern ? + a really nice, well-fitting pattern with lot of options for creativity, I really like the style of the collar

Did you make any changes in design or construction? I extended the hip-part about 10 cm, since I really like the look of dress over trousers and maybe I will also wear it as a dress.

Did you try out some new techniques sewing this garment? yes - I made bead embellishment on the belt for the first time; I also made belt loops with my serger, which is a very easy and useful method

Summary: really nice basic pattern for pullover in many style variations .

Ich habe am Wochenende mein schwarzes "Pulloverkleid" fertig genäht und der Schnitt ist auf jeden Fall eine Schnittmusterbesprechung wert:

Schnittmuster: Burda Mode 8028
Modellbeschreibung: Pullover in 4 verschiedenen Möglichkeiten, ich habe Variante B genäht

Schwierigkeitsgrad: ***

Größen: 36-5012 ( ich habe Größe 40 genäht, in der oberen Partie Größe 38)

Wieviel Stoff wurde benötigt ? Da ich mich nicht an die Empfehlung auf dem Schnitt gehalten habe, da mir die Menge so hoch vorkam, musste ich "Lehrgeld" bezahlen und einen zweiten Stoff kaufen, um den Kragen, die Ärmelbündchen und das Unterteil zu nähen. Ich habe einen gemusterten Strickstoff mit einem glatt rechts gestrickten Stoff kombiniert und ca. 2,50 Stoff benötigt.

Zeitangabe: mit Verzierarbeiten ungefähr 6 Stunden
Sieht das Modell aus wie auf dem Foto bzw. die technische Zeichnung im Heft ? ja

War die Nähanleitung verständlich und gut nachzuarbeiten ? ja

Was hat Dir an dem Modell gefallen, was weniger gut ?+ sehr schöner, gut sitzender Schnitt mit hohem Variationspotential, ich finde den Fall des Kragens sehr schön

Wurde das Schnittmuster oder das Design verändert ? Da ich den Kleid-über-Hose Look sehr schön finde, habe ich das Unterteil 10 cm verlängert, eventuell trage ich es auch mal komplett als Kleid

Hast Du beim Verarbeiten für Dich neue Techniken angewandt ? ja - ich habe den Gürtel mit Perlenstickerei verziert; ausserdem habe ich mit der Overlock Schlaufen für den Gürtel hergestellt, eine wirklich einfache und brauchbare Technik!

Zusammenfassung: sehr schöner Pulloverbasisschnitt mit vielen verschiedenen Möglichkeiten, den habe ich bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal genäht!

Könnte ein Start in ein verlängertes Wochenende schöner sein ? Frühlingshafte Temperaturen, Sonnenschein, Vogelgezwitscher und schon vereinzelt wunderschöne Blütenknospen wie an diesem Quittenstrauch...

Could there be a better start into a long weekend than this ? Spring is in the air, sunshine, birds are singing and trees are starting to bloom quite early as this beautiful quince...

Pattern Review Butterick 4815

I took some pictures yesterday evening and here we go with a pattern review for Butterick 4815:Pattern: Butterick Pattern No. 4815

Description: vest, gilet in 5 different options

Severity: easy
Size: 12 ( but it could be slightly larger, maybe I will wear it open...)
How much fabric did you need ? 70 cm long, 140 cm width - since it is a gobelin fabric it is relatively thick

Approximate sewing time: 4 hours

Does the finished project look like the drawing/pictures ? yes

Were the sewing instructions easy to follow: yes, definitely
What do you like/disklike about this pattern ? + : it is very quick & easy to sew -: the neck parts extended while sewing since they were cut in cross grain; the instructions recommended to "staystitch", which I skipped, so this might be my mistake...

Did you make any changes in design or construction? no, I just added 1 cm lenght which could have been more

Did you try out some new techniques sewing this garment? yes- I inserted flat steel spirals into the backpart to hold this part upright. That worked out very well.
Summary: nice basic pattern for vests in every style. For view C I would recommend thinner fabric, ideal would be fabric with elastic.

Gestern Abend habe ich ein paar Fotos von meiner Weste gemacht und hier kommt nun die Schnittmusterbesprechung:

Schnittmuster: Butterick 4815

Modellbeschreibung: Weste in 5 unterschiedlichen Variationen
Schwierigkeitsgrad: einfach
Größen: 6-12 ( ich habe Größe 12 genäht, ok - könnte ein bißchen größer sein, ich habe die Overlock etwas großzügiger eingesetzt und da die Nahtzugabe im Schnitt enthalten ist....Im Moment werde ich die Weste offen tragen...)

Wieviel Stoff wurde benötigt ? 70 cm x 140 cm, der Stoff ist recht dick (Gobelin), beim nächsten Mal würde ich dünneren verarbeiten..

Sieht das Modell aus wie auf dem Foto bzw. die technische Zeichnung im Heft ? ja

Was hat Dir an dem Modell gefallen, was weniger gut ?+ : schnell und einfach zu nähen; -: das Vorderteil hat sich zum Nacken hin beim Nähen etwas gedehnt, das liegt wohl am schrägen Fadenlauf, die Anleitung empfiehlt vor dem Nähen, den Teil mit einem "Staystitch" zu sichern. Da ich das bewusst übersprungen habe, ist es wohl auch eher mein Fehler...

Wurde das Schnittmuster oder das Design verändert ? nein - ich habe 1 cm in der Länge hinzugegeben, das hätte noch etwas mehr sein können

Hast Du beim Verarbeiten für Dich neue Techniken angewandt ? ja - ich habe zum ersten Mal flache Stahlfedern benutzt. Diese habe ich in die hinteren Teilungsnähte eingearbeitet, das hat prima geklappt und ist sehr zu empfehlen!

Zusammenfassung: schöner, leicht zu nähender Westenbasisschnitt in 5 schicken Varianten, für Modell C empfehle ich dünneren Stoff mit Elasthananteil

Clean up your stash!

I did some cleaning up last weekend. I sorted out clothes I will not wear anymore, found some pieces I was not aware I still have and will wear them again, or at least give them a try and I also decided that I will not start sewing dessous. I tried this twice and failed. Since I don´t have problems to buy nice, good-fitting dessous I am definitely able to resist this addiction.
However, there are many ladies who are really addicted to sew wonderful dessous and I ordered some nice packages last year I want to sell them.

I want to sell the clothes I sorted out to a second hand store. They already informed me that they will only sell up-to-date labeled clothing...( Who sorts out up-to-date clothes ? Has this anything to do with 2nd hand ? ). Ok, we will see. I also managed to depart from some self-sewed items, I am really curious whether they will have a chance there.
Do you have any experiences with second hand sellings ?

I also finished the gilet from the Butterick pattern and another interesting shirt from Burda.
I will post pictures and a pattern review for both soon.

Tonight I want to cut out this pattern from Burda. I found a very nice structured black knit
fabric and I am going to make the second version. For collar, hip-part and cuffs I will use the fabrics´structure in a 90° turn as the body parts.
I think this will work out really nice.
I will keep you updated about the project...
