Rippel-Trench - construction details & final post

Zuerst ein paar Details zur Verarbeitung.

I cannot believe it, I finished my coat. The last handstitches were done this morning, while having my cup of coffee - I set myself a deadline, which I need sometimes, especially when it comes to things like sewing on buttons etc.

First some construction details.

I used a slightly batted, quilted lining for front and back pieces since I wanted to have a really warm jacket and the fabric is woven very loose. The sleeves are quite narrow and to avoid unconvenient bulk I used a normal lining.

I did not sew the whole lining at the bottom seams, but secured it with small thread - chains at each seam allowance( thank you Tany for the translation ).
I added a loop to the center back seam and, of course, my label.
My original plan was to sew in some nice buttonholes, stiched with an anthracite silk yarn, but that was a mission which failed completely after several attempts. Hence I sewed the buttons just for decoration and added some big snap-fasteners. Although this is not my desired result I am meanwhile quite satisfied with it.
This pattern is a very good constructed, with a little effort good to sew basic pattern for a sporty trench. I would highly recommend it . ( Burda Mode und Magazin, September 2006 Nr. 104 )

I will also add a review to pattern review.

Katrin, congratulations on another fabulous garment! I love the way you choose to line the coat, very clever using the quilted lining only for the body! As for the little bridges, I believe they are called thread chains in English.
Hugs from Portugal!
