The colour purple - Der Mantel / the coat

vergangene Woche gab es nur häppchenweise Näheinheiten, daher ist der Fortschritt des Mantels noch nicht so weit wie ich es gerne hätte...
I had a quite busy week last week and hence just really short sewing units, so not so much progress on the coat so far...
Bei Schnittvision heisst es sowieso: Erst kleben, dann nähen - und so sieht das dann aus:
One "Schnittvision-rule" is first glue then sew and that´s how it looks like when the whole pattern is ready to cut. This time it was quite much, 47 pages had to be printed and glued and that was only for the fabric. There is a separate file for the lining, but I will skip that and use this pattern to cut it.

Dieses Mal war es aber auch recht viel, 47 Seite wollten gedruckt und aneinander gefügt werden, und das war nur für den Oberstoff, eigentlich gibt es für das Futter nochmal separate Teile, aber die spare ich mir und nutze diese hier.

Ein paar Besonderheiten sind mir bei Schnittvision im Vergleich zu Burda aufgefallen:

• der Unterkragen wird im schrägen Fadenlauf zugeschnitten und hat daher eine Mittelnaht, ich vermute, dass der Kragen sich dadurch schöner in die Rundung legen wird


• die Stofftaschenbeutel habe nochmal einen "Steg" an der Ansatznaht, die Taschenbeutel müssen somit nicht mehr nachgeschnitten werden, sondern passen exakt aufeinander

Comparing to BWOF patterns there are a few things which are interesting details:

• Schnittvision cuts the undercollar on the bias, thus having a middle back seam. I assume this is to shape the curve more smoothly.
• the fabric pocket pieces have a small edge above the pocket opening so that they fit nicely together and do not have to be cut back to have even seamlines after attaching th
  

Nach dem Zuschnitt des Stoffes stand erstmal eine Einlageversuchsreihe an, da mir mein Stoff für einen Mantel etwas zu leicht ist, muss er komplett verstärkt werden.

Some experiments with fusible interfacing had to be made after cutting the fabric since it is a little bit to light for a coat.

Mit folgenden Einlagen habe ich experimentiert ( von links nach rechts ) :

• Jerseyeinlage, sehr weich und dehnbar
• Batisteinlage, die verwende ich gerne bei Blusen oder Jackenkragen
• weiche, mittelschwere Gewebeeinlage

This is what I tested ( from left to right ):

• special interfacing for knits, very drapy and a little bit stretchy
• woven batiste interfacing which I often use for collars in blouses or jackets, very crisp
• soft, middle-heavy woven interfacing

Das beste (Fühl )Resultat ergab die dunkle Gewebeeinlage, das hätte ich garnicht gedacht, ich hätte mit der Jerseyeinlage gerechnet. Ok, also nochmal die ganze Chose aus Einlage ausgeschnitten und dann.....aufbüüüügeln.... mit Dampf, Geduld und Sorgfalt...naja. Mach ich nicht so wirklich gerne. Und da das Ganze ja gut auskühlen muss, bin ich mit Nähen noch nicht so weit. Den Gürtel hab ich schon mal. Immerhin. ( Habe ich eigentlich schon erwähnt, dass ich zur Zeit am Liebsten Himbeereis esse ?:-) )

The best result was the last interfacing, which was quite a surprise for me. My bet was on the knit interfacing. Ok, next step was to cut everything again from interfacing and then...ironing...with steam, patience and care...I do not like that too much. And since it has to cool down quite a while to fix the fusion the progress on sewing is not that much. At least I finished the belt. ( Did I mention that rasperry is my favourite ice-cream at the moment ?:-) )

Da ich ja momentan so viel Zeit zum Nähen habe ( Ironiemodus ), habe ich natürlich noch ein Nebenprojekt. Ich möchte mir so ein hippieskes Wallawallakleid aus diesem netten Stoff hier nähen:

Als Schnittmuster habe ich mir dieses hier ausgeguckt. Vom Oberteil wird es in jedem Fall aber erstmal ein Probeteil geben, ich bin nicht so sicher, ob die ermittelte Größe korrekt ist. Schaun ´mer mal....

I chose this pattern but will definitely make a muslin from the bodice since I am not sure how to handle the sizing. We will see how this turns out...
