Hinzu kommen Knöpfe, Bänder, Borten in großer Auswahl.
Meine to-sew -Liste ist also wieder sehr lang...

Since Aachen is in the very western part of Germany it is very easy for me to visit Belgium and the Netherlands in about 10 minutes driving-time. Needless to say that I sometimes check whats up over there in fabric shopping. The Netherlands have those famous big fabric markets and also often have nice fabric booths at farmer´s markets in different towns.
Last week I went shopping with a friend, who is a recent sewing addicted and checked out a fabric shop in Liege in Belgium. I think the pictures tell their own story. Hundreds of fabrics, starting with patchwork up to fine taffetta fabrics on two floors. In addition to that they offer buttons, borders and notions in many different styles. And the best: Most of the fabrics were on sale and 50% off!
I was totally overwhelmed in the beginning, but I finally bought 8 m. A gery blue print with a little elastic, maybe for this blouse. A dark blue woven fabric for a shift dress ( Schnittvision) and a matching striped light jacquard in blue-aqua tones, for this jacket. And - for the wildcat inside, a jersey with small leo-print for a sporty dress ( Schnittvision). So, a lot additions to my to-sew list and also to my "where-to -shop" list, since there is another fabric store in Liege with noble fabrics. So, I will check out this the next time...
....I forgot, they still had a lot of Neue Mode patterns, the ran out of production last year...

I envy you to death for those awesome fabric shops within a 10-minute drive! I also get the feeling there is quite a strong sewing community in Germany, isn't it? Well, after all, you are the country of my beloved Burda so I guess this has a role too!

Yes, I also have the impression that sewing is very trendy in Germany, too and still increasing. And it definetely also is in Belgium and the Netherlands. Sometimes I really wonder why it is so hard to find a sewing mate in your home town. But it is wonderful to have the blogging community!

Katrin
