Deep blue sea - Etuikleid füttern ohne Stress

A short progress report on the dress, I have almost finished. I sewed a lining to the dress, this is much more convenient to wear directly on the skin and the dress is more flexible on your body. Some weeks ago I read a new method here at the Hobbyschneider Community to line a shift dress, which might be also interesting for you since it is easy, quick with a perfect result. One thing is important for this technique: The zipper should be in the center back seam. I am not sure that this would work with the zipper in the side seam.
What you have to do...
First sew all darts and front seams and the shoulder seams fabric and lining pieces. Lining is usually cut from the same pattern pieces as the fabric, minus facings.
Then lay fabric and lining right sides together and stitch the neckline and the armholes.

Clip seam allowances at rounded seams. I would recommend either to staystich every rounded seam or to reinforce with a fusible interfacing band, to prevent that the fabric will wear out.

Now grab between fabric and lining of the front pieces and turn the backpieces to the front, each piece through its shoulder. Now you should have the right side of the fabric outside. This sounds really complicated but it is really easy. You are now able to sew the side seams of fabric and lining in one step.
Add the zipper to the center back seam and sew the lining by hand to the zipper. Baste and iron the edges carefully - and - you´re done. That was not so difficult, wasn´t ? And the result is really neat. Maybe the American sewers are used to this method, but for everybody using mostly BWOF instructions this should be a real improvement. At least it was for me :-).

Hallo Katrin,
